In the mid-20th century, a brutalist movement emerged characterized by a deliberate plainness, heavy and ruthless style, born out of utopian idealism. The style fell out of popularity in the late 1970s due to its cold and grim nature. Although, generally associated with raw concrete and bricks the brutal chair surprises with its minimal form contrived from steel.
