The black sand beach of Reynisfjara is one of many geological wonders on the island of Iceland. On the other side of the ocean, rocky sea stacks rise above and overlook the black sands. These ancient columns naturally took shape as the lava rose. From here the Alfonso Vase drew inspiration by sculpting seventeen individual layers and organically displacing them. Alike the formation in Iceland, from edge to edge the vase rises like a pyramid.
